About Mark A. Slagle, PharmD, BCPS

Dr. Mark A. Slagle brings over 30 years of pharmacy experience to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Talon Enterprises, LLC, from his position as a VISN Pharmacist Executive where he oversaw professional, clinical, and administrative Pharmacy functions in five Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and multiple Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi, and Virginia to ensure that nearly 300,000 Veterans had timely access to high-quality, cost-effective medications and pharmaceutical care.  He efficiently managed the annual Network Pharmacy budget of over $795 million and implemented cost avoidance initiatives which resulted in over $31 million in cost avoidance for FY2025.

 

Dr. Slagle was a voting member on the National VISN Pharmacist Executive/Medical Advisory Panel Committee which manages the VA National Formulary and Criteria for Use for the nation’s largest integrated health system.  He chaired the multidisciplinary Network Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Pharmacy Chiefs Collaboration Call, and the Sterile Pharmaceutical Compounding Committee.  He participated in multiple National VA Committees focusing on patient satisfaction, provision of medications and supplies, long-term VA information technology planning, and academic detailing.

 

Dr. Slagle led the Network to develop, implement, and monitor policies related to medication use, Veteran satisfaction, cost control, regulatory compliance, procurement, pharmaceutical industry relationships, and patient safety.  He participated in Quality Readiness Reviews at the Network Medical Centers to prepare them for The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, and other oversight inspections.
